E7018-X

E

This indicates that this is an electrode.

70

This indicates how strong this electrode is when welded. PSI ( Tensile Strength).

1

Indicates  Welding  Positions.

8

Indicates the coating, Penetration and current types used.

X

This indicates that there are more requirements.

WELDING POSITIONS

1. 1F/Flate position - Usually groove welds, fillet welds only if welded like a ‘V’.

2. 2F/ Horizontal position - Fillet welds, welds on walls ( Travel is from side to side ).

3. 3F/ Vertical position – Welds on wells ( Travel is either up or down )

4. 4F/ Over Head  - Weld that needs to be done upside down.
